Star Reefers goes for newbuilds

Star Reefers (SRI) has agreed with a Japanese owner to time-charter two new built reefer vessels each with a capacity of 585,000 cubic feet for a period of 10 years. The vessels will be built at Shikoku yard in Japan and are the first reefer newbuildings to be placed in years.

The first vessel is scheduled to be delivered between February and April 2006 and the second vessel between November 2006 and January 2007. The transaction is part of SRI strategy to secure modern long term reefer tonnage to maintain its position as a leading quality reefer operator.
