Steerprop propulsion for Russia and India
The new propulsors have been ordered by the Severnaya shipyard in Russia and the Bharati shipyard in India.
Under the contracts, Steerprop will supply Russia with two SP 120 ECO CRP propulsors to be installed on a multi purpose vessel ordered by the Russian Federation. Each unit has a power rating of 6,000kW and will be classified according to the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping’s Arc4 ice class.
The company will also provide two SP 60 ECO CRP propulsors, each with a power rating of 5,000kW, for a vessel ordered by the Republic of India.
Mr Petri Tolonen, vice president of sales and marketing, Steerprop, said: “The orders from Severnaya and Bharati shipyards are very significant for Steerprop. They are not only opening new markets for us, but they are also clear signs that the Steerprop CRP technology has achieved a solid reputation and status in the global maritime market.”
The units, which are the first ECO CRP units to be delivered to Russia and India, have been designed for large vessels that operate at high speeds and often in adverse weather conditions. The fuel efficient propulsors will offer easy manouverability, whilst reducing operation costs.
Steerprop is expected to deliver the systems in 2014.
