StormGeo partners with Bureau Veritas for 2025 EU MRV Compliance

By integrating StormGeo’s solutions with Bureau Veritas’ emission compliance platform, VeriSTAR Green, the collaboration will simplify the reporting and verification process for vessels between 400 and 5,000 gross tonnage (GT), as well as offshore vessels of 400 GT and above. This initiative will assist stakeholders, including shipowners and charterers, in meeting EU MRV, EU ETS, and IMO emission requirements efficiently.

The EU MRV Regulation, introduced in 2018, mandates vessels over 5,000 GT sailing to and from Europe to provide detailed data on CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. From 1 January 2025, the regulation will also apply to general cargo ships between 400 and 5,000 GT and offshore vessels of 400 GT and above.

Currently, 3,500 vessels use StormGeo’s EU MRV solutions. Building on this extensive experience, StormGeo is now extending its services to support smaller vessels that will need to comply with the regulations from 2025.

The collaboration will also benefit clients such as Sofuoglu International Shipping, whose data for emission regulation will be verified by Bureau Veritas. In 2024, the Turkish maritime company successfully integrated StormGeo’s s-Log Reporting solution across its entire fleet. This proactive approach has positioned Sofuoglu as one of Turkey’s most prepared shipping companies for the 2025 regulatory changes.

In addition to Sofuoglu’s fleet, StormGeo has onboarded numerous vessels under 5,000 GT from prominent companies operating general cargo and offshore vessels across Europe.
