Strategic launches new vessel operations system

Shipbroking systems supplier, Strategic Software, has launched VesselOps 1.0, an integrated vessel operations and voyage management system. The system was developed in co-operation with the Armada Group, the panamax bulk carrier owner and operator, who developed the Armada Shipping System in the 1980s. An integration module to standard finance and cash management systems is currently under development for launch in December. The company is to run parallel testing with the old Armada Shipping System and says this will enable VesselOps 1.0 to replace it early in 2002. Integration of VesselOps with the company?s Internet platform, IMX, will enable users to capture voyage data at source, reducing the voyage accounting workload and improving cash management, says Strategic. Subject to customer demand, Strategic says it is open to the development of interfaces with other chartering exchanges.
