STX clinches four boxship contract

STX Shipbuilding in South Korea secured an order for two 3,500TEU container ships plus two options at the total contract price of $172 million from Hansa Treuhand Schiffsbeteiligungs in Germany. However, the total price is actually $180 million because 40 percent of the contract was paid when the new order was signed. Ship particulars are 246.80 m long, 32.20 m wide, a depth of 19.30 m and a service speed of 23.4 knots. Delivery is scheduled for 2007.
