STX Engine has developed an engine with a NOx exhaust level of 7.5g/kWh or less by improving the existing STX-MAN B&W 8L21/31 model. In December last year, this engine successfully completed its performance verification test under the inspection of Lloyd’s Register and the Swedish shipping company Wallenius. The IMO standard of NOx exhaust for the same class engine is 11.5g/kWh, and STX claims it is the first engine manufacturer in the world to reduce the exhaust to 7.5g/kWh or less without using a separate emissions control device.
