This is because the hull is designed to provide super low resistance right through every speed range.

The hull form was recently tested at Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA) where even the smallest details were put through their paces and then optimised for maximum efficiency.

The outcome was that wave formation through the speed range was minimal and no following waves were observed in the wake of the ship.

Measured resistance was subsequently compared to the HSVA database and the company says that no other hull form showed such consistently low resistance.

Foreship now intends to utilise the data for all other BlueTech ships which have a full bodied hull form.

New company Foreship BlueTech Ltd was set up by Foreship back in February to create the new BlueTech bulk carrier series.

Foreship BlueTech’s new bulk carrier series is based on based on optimised hydrodynamics, using RANS-CFD, and latest engine technology.

The company says that daily fuel consumption of BlueTech ships is around 30% less than other current designs. The series currently includes the SD25, SD35, SD41, SD42, SD56 and SD64 models.
