Survitec adds new liferaft service package

The ‘carefree package’ has, according to the company, emerged from Survitec’s recent acquisition of Cosalt’s marine business. As SSD, the company is now able to team up with other parts of the Survitec Group, including leading liferaft manufacturer DSB, to offer a wider range of services.

Survitec says that the first shipping company signing up for the integrated package is Hamburg-based Oskar Wehr. The customer has placed an order to equip 25 of its vessels with DSB liferafts with all products covered by an SSD servicing agreement.

Explained Ralf-Thomas Rapp, SSD’s managing director in Germany: “The contract means Oskar Wehr no longer has to monitor when a liferaft service is required. SSD takes the initiative and makes contact to arrange the work at one of over 400 service stations worldwide, all of which comply with Survitec’s high quality standards. At the same time Oskar Wehr will benefit from fixed price costs for the whole term of the service contract, regardless of how much material and equipment may have to be replaced during a service.”

Added Lasse Grundmann, superintendent at Oskar Wehr: “The carefree package is a great idea. It makes our work easier and allows us to plan expenditure and manage costs well into the future. Opting for an integrated package means we can expect our new liferafts to be serviced to the same high standards that were followed when the products were first manufactured.”

Rapp worked closely with Erik Soendergaard, director marine products at DSB, to develop the integrated package concept. Said Soendergaard: “It makes sense for DSB and SSD to work as a team as part of the Survitec Group. By combining our skills and competences we can offer customers better products and services. Quality is guaranteed because we have a unique understanding of the work processes and skills that drive our different operations.”
