SWATH for research ship in China

CSSRC (China Ship Science Research Center) won a contract for a scientific research ship. Financed by CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences), the ship is to serve as a general-purpose research vessel including geological sampling, physical oceanography, ocean surface currents and acoustical research. When built, this 2,300 tonne displacement vessel will be the first Chinese SWATH research ship and will have a maximum speed of 15 knots and an operating range of 8000 miles.
