Swee Joo acquiring more ships
The Sarawak-based shipping company Swee Joo Bhd may acquire more than five vessels over the next 15 months in anticipation of growth in the palm oil industry in East Malaysia and an increase in trade activities within the Asian region.
Swee Joo, which is a market leader for domestic containerised cargo shipping services, operates one of the largest fleet of vessels in the domestic shipping industry comprising 26 vessels, of which 13 are container vessels, 8 general cargo vessels and 5 support vessels. The company?s vessels ply routes in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei, and call at the regional ports of Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.
