Ten more for Daewoo
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), the world’s second-largest shipbuilder, has clinched orders worth $1.2 billion for 10 ships from overseas shipping companies. DSME signed a deal with the Swedish car carrier Wallenius Lines for three 8,000 unit car carriers. These will be the largest of their kind. In a separate deal, DSME will build four 8,000TEU container ships for A.P. Moller. All 10 ships will be delivered by August 2008.
With the latest orders, the shipbuilder?s order book now stands at 59 ships worth $ 5.6 billion, exceeding its annual new order target of $4.38 billion.
