TGE wins gas handling order for Northern Lights LCO2 carriers

The systems will be installed on two LCO2 carriers which are being built at DSIC in China for the Rostock-based Carnival company. According to TGE, the ships are scheduled to enter service in 2024. The vessels are being purpose built to transport CO2 from heavy industrial partners in Norway and other European countries to a terminal in western Norway. The CO2 will be transported by pipeline for permanent storage in a geological reservoir 2,600 metres under the seabed.

The scope of TGE Marine’s engineering, procurement, construction and supervision (EPCS) contract covers the complete CO2 Gas Handling System as well as commissioning activities. The vessels will each have a capacity of 7,500 cbm of liquid CO2.
