Third TMT LNG for Daewoo
Taiwan Maritime Transport (TMT) has placed an order for a third LNG carrier with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) as part of a package of contracts worth $430m. The yard did not give a value for the LNG carrier, but brokers indicated it cost about $234m.
The ship, to be delivered by August 2010, will have 171,800 cu m capacity, larger than the 166,000 cu m size TMT was rumoured to be interested in. Delivery of the third LNG carrier will coincide with the arrival of TMT’s second ship, a 166,000 cu m LNG carrier.
DSME said the package also includes a contract for two 83,000 cu m LPG carriers awarded by Greek owner, Brave Maritime Corporation.
