Tognum rebranded as Rolls-Royce Power Systems

Following finalisation of the takeover in March 2013, the group has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rolls-Royce and Daimler, each of which has a 50% shareholding in the company via a joint venture. The individual companies within Tognum, i.e. MTU and its various divisions, and L’Orange – plus the former Rolls-Royce subsidiary Bergen engines, which was transferred to Tognum following the takeover – will retain their existing brand identities. The regional companies will undergo similar rebranding: the US subsidiary Tognum America will now operate as MTU America and Tognum Asia, based in Singapore, will operate under the new name of MTU Asia.

“The new name Rolls-Royce Power Systems reflects the close industrial ties to Rolls-Royce. At the same time, our owners Rolls-Royce and Daimler have clearly affirmed their commitment to our traditional brands of MTU, MTU Onsite Energy and L’Orange,” said Dr. Ulrich Dohle, who has been chairman of the executive board and CEO of the company since July 2013.

The product portfolio includes MTU high-speed engines and propulsion systems for marine and other applications, with diesel and gas turbine gensets, cogeneration and combined heat and power systems ships under the MTU Onsite Energy brand. Norwegian subsidiary Bergen Engines manufactures medium-speed engines for marine and power generation applications, while L’Orange rounds off the portfolio with fuel injection systems for large engines.
