tor magnolia – Ultimate RoRo newbuilding from

In September the Danish ferry operator DFDS Tor took delivery of the lead ship in five-ship series of their new roro 3900 design developed in co-operation with the German shipyard of Flensburger Schiffbau. Named Tor Magnolia, DFDS is operating this 199.8 metre long vessel on its AngloBridge freight route between Gothenburg and Immingham, making it one of the largest RoRo vessels in the North Sea area. Together with two sister ships, the 32,395gt 10,500 dwt, newbuildings will replace the current three ships on this route.

This new 3,831 lane meter ferry clearly demonstrates how rapidly the RoRo business is developing and that operators continually need to upgrade their facilities and services. DFDS claims its new design offers optimum cargo space, high service speed, quick loading and discharge capability, good sea keeping qualities and low fuel consumption.
