Turkey building new-generation tanker

Named Omega 2, the Istanbul-based consultancy Delta Marine carried out the design that was verified by Mesh with advanced engineering analysis and Omega Marine has undertaken the turnkey project as owner and main contractor. The 2,600 dwt newbuilding is designed to carry petroleum products, liquid chemical products (IMO II type) and to do bunkering services. Functionality, safety, economy, environmental approach, maintenance and ergonomics were the main criteria in the design process.

The ship will have eight cargo tanks and one slop tank which, in terms of construction, outfitting and coating, are designed in accordance with latest MARPOL and IBC rules to carry petroleum products and IMO II type chemical products. In addition to the ability to carry petroleum products and more than 500 chemical products, she will be able to serve as a bunkering ship.

The propulsion system will consists of two four-stroke diesel engines and two fixed-pitch propellers. Design speed of the ship is 12.0 knots with a fuel consumption of 5.3 t/day giving a cruising range of 3600 nautical miles. With only one engine the ship can sail at 10.0 knots.
