Two platform supply vessels named

The two platform supply vessels under construction at the Cochin Shipyard for Greek company Hellespont Steamship Corporation were named recently. The first was named ‘Hellespont Daring’ and the other ‘Hellespont Dawn’. The PSVs are of the UT-755-LN design and are built and classified by DNV. The vessels also satisfy the `CLEAN? notation of DNV which ensures high standards of environmental safety.

Currently, the yard is constructing 20 offshore vessels for European and American clients. CSL chairman and managing director Cmde Jitendran said that the yard had achieved 100% capacity utilisation. “To keep up with the growth momentum, the yard has proposed for a Small Ship Division and Dry Dock projects. The Small Ship Division project has been approved by the Union Government and it is expected to be commissioned by mid-2009. The Dry Dock project is at the feasibility study stage. Apart from capacity expansion, both the projects will create around 2,000-2,500 employment openings,?? he said.
