Type approval for SimulationX
SimulationX software module, Marine Propeller, was designed and developed by ITI in collaboration with GL for transient and steady state torsional vibration analyses (TVA) of ship propulsion systems in SimulationX.
Under the new specifications for ice classes, owners are required to evaluate the impact of propeller ice torque excitation on the drive shaft. A ship’s operational safety and the material durability must also be demonstrated under various conditions, including arctic temperatures and critical scenarios.
The Marine Propeller software module calculates ice impact induced loads on the powertrain to ensure safe operation of the vessel under arctic conditions. Based on a range of different ice impact scenarios, it is also possible to model ice impact torque on the propeller blades.
