UIC and SHI sign cooperation memorandum

United Industrial Corporation (OPK) in Russia and Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (SHI) in Korea have signed a memorandum for mutual business cooperation during a recent visit to the St. Petersburg shipyards of Baltiysky Zavod and Severnaya Verf. The main purpose of this memorandum is to jointly construct new vessels at Severnaya Verf with Samsung participating in the design process and supplying some of the equipment . Both companies are keen to participate in tendering for the building of LNG carriers, drilling platforms, offshore service vessels and equipment for Russian customers, in particular Gasprom PLC.
