Ukraine shipyard incident

Two workers were killed and another 12 injured as a result of an incident at Damen’s Okean Shipyard in Nikolaev, Ukraine. The incident occurred on one of the vessels under construction when a fire-control system depressurized releasing carbon dioxide into the space where 14 employees were working. Two died immediately of asphyxiation and 12 were hospitalized, including six who were taken to an intensive care ward.
