Uljanik to build two chemical tankers for Spain’s Marflet

The 50,000dwt vessels will be of 183m length overall and 32.2m width, Uljanik said in a statement.

The 3 Maj shipyard is a subsidiary of Uljanik. The facility is located in Rijeka, Croatia, and has built container ships, oil and chemical tankers, and other types of vessels.

The first ship is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2015, and the second by the end of 2016, the statement said. The value of the latest contract was not disclosed by the Croatian shipbuilder.

Set up in 1856, Uljanik is based in Pula, Croatia. The group has a combined workforce of 4,321, according to data released by Uljanik.

Based in Madrid, Spain, Marflet operates a five-ship fleet, all of which were built by Uljanik. The shipping company says its vessels are classed as IMO II type tankers. The five ships are registered under the flag of Cyprus, and are all between 43,538dwt and 43,557dwt, according to figures from Marflet.
