Ulstein PSVs for Nordic American
The recently-formed company, part of Nordic American Tankers, already has six Ulstein PX121s, which it acquired in December 2013. The two new PSVs are planned for delivery from Ulstein Verft in January 2015.
According to Ulstein, its PX121 design resulted from careful analysis of the offshore market worldwide. In the North Sea, these PSVs are considered medium-sized, and they are designed for an optimum combination of fuel efficiency and deadweight, with capacity and performance approaching those of larger PSVs. They can take on most of the tasks usually handled by slightly larger PSVs, with the result that investment cost and operating costs are both lower. The company says that it has sold a total of 18 vessels to this design, six built by Ulstein’s own yard in Norway, which have been working in the North Sea, and ten either delivered from, or under construction at, yards in China and South-East Asia.
“We are very pleased that Nordic American Offshore has chosen Ulstein when expanding their fleet of PSVs,” said Gunvor Ulstein, CEO of Ulstein Group.
