The DP3, 142m vessel, which is based on the ‘Red Class 6027’ MT design DSCV, is in line with UDS’ growth strategy to provide vessels with high-tech solutions to the offshore industry worldwide.

“With only 30 similarly-sized, but older vessels worldwide, and the requirement in the industry for safe yet fast-response vessels, UDS is poised to deliver such high standards of quality to the deep and ultra-deep water projects,” said Shel Hutton, CEO, UDS.

“The ‘Red Class 6027’ combines the practicality, safety, reliability, efficiency and impressive subsea technology. We are confident that it will exceed the expectations of oil majors and offshore operators,” he added.

The 18-man twin bell diving support construction vessel is designed to operate in water up to 4,000m deep and will feature a 400 VLT in the reinforced moon pool area and two 250hp work class ROVs. In addition, it will be fitted with a 400 tonne crane which has a depth capability of 5,200m single fall and 3,200m dual fall.

Set up in 2014, UDS specialises in the design, construction and operations of world-class ultra-deep diving heavy construction vessels for the offshore industry.
