USC wins AHTS order

Singapore-based CH Offshore Ltd, a subsidiary of Chuan Hup Holdings, has awarded a contract to Universal Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), in Japan, for the building of two anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) at a total cost of $51.2 million. These 68 metre long, 8,993 kW, 150 tonne bollard pull, DP2 vessels are capable of operating in deep water. One vessel is to be delivered in November 2009 with the second in February 2010.

The order reflects CH Offshore?s commitment to its fleet renewal program and in anticipation of the expected deepwater requirements of oil and gas producers worldwide. Together with five vessels currently under construction in Japan, the addition of the latest two vessels will bring the total of the Group?s fleet of vessels to 29.
