Using humidity aims to reduces NOx

As tougher marine environmental requirements are sought, the focus is increasingly on diesel engines where the worst problem to solve is high NOx emissions. This has lead to intensified work on developing methods of reducing NOx.

By developing a method using water vapour, Munters claims that NOx emissions can be reduced by up to 70 per cent. It notes that conditions in diesel engines are ideal for NOx creation, with low-speed engines being worse than medium-speed units at creating NOx.
