Vietnam Coal starts construction of own shipyard
Vietnam Coal Corporation has started construction work on a shipbuilding yard at the northern port city of Quang Ninh last week. The shipyard, covering 16 hectares, will include a workshop and slipways capable of building 6,500 to 15,000 tonne ships.
With a total investment of $36 million in the 2004-2010 period, the yard is designed to build ships up to 8,000 tonnes by 2005 and will help develop the Vietnam Coal Corporation’s own fleet by 2010.
