Vinalines orders from local shipyard

The Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation?s (Vinashin) Bach Dang Shipyard has signed a contract with the Viet Nam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) to build four 22,500 DWT dry cargo ships at a cost of $76 million. This is part of a contract signed between Vinashin and Vinalines to build 32 ships to expand the latter’s fleet.

The four freighters, each 152 metres long, 13.7 metres high and 24 metres wide, were designed by the Vinakita Naval Architect JVC Ltd, a joint venture between Vinashin and Japan’s Kitada Company. They will be equipped with 8,000 horsepower engines.

In addition, the Bach Dang Shipyard will build high-tonnage ships under contracts signed with its partners from Turkey, Poland, China, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
