The Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) recently inked 18 contracts with both domestic and foreign partners. The contracts, signed within the framework of the 3rd International Exhibition on Shipbuilding, Marine Technology and Transportation, held in Ha Noi, include deals to supply three 8,700 DWT ships to Japan and ten 4,600 DWT ships to Denmark, together worth nearly $300 million.

A $200 million project to build a shipbuilding yard in southern Binh Dinh province was signed between the Vinashin and its Chinese partner, the CAMCO company.

Vinashin, STX and Man B&W Diesel Ltd signed a cooperation agreement on building a 25,000-horsepower diesel plant in northern Hai Phong port city. Viet Nam will have an increasing demand for ship-building materials and equipment over the next 10 years.
