Virtual reality design for bridge layout

Litton Marine Systems has introduced Design Vision 1.0, a design tool for creating and evaluating integrated bridge system designs.

Design Vision is a CAD program that allows the designer to construct a 3D model of the bridge layout and evaluate various configurations, says Litton. The designer can select one of six pre-defined bridge layouts, including DnV Watch 1 configuration, or can create a custom layout from a library containing 3D images of the various sub-systems and components, such as radars, ecdis, steering consoles, chart tables and other modules, to create various conceptual models for bridge layouts. The designs can then be analysed and evaluated using interactive virtual reality techniques, says the company.
