Volgograd builds Iranian coasters
Volgograd Shipbuilding Plant, part of the MNP group, started construction of the lead-ship in a four-ship series of dry-cargo ships for Iranian company Irinvestship at a total cost of $44 million. Delivery is scheduled over the course of the next two years.
The 139.95 m long, 16.7 m wide newbuildings will have a deadweight of 6,750 tonnes and will be used for the transportation of general and bulk cargo, timber, large-size cargoes and containers. Cruising range will be 4,000.
MNP Group incorporates leading Russian shipyards, i.e. Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod), Nizhegorodsky Steamship Shipyard, Volgograd Shipyard, Astrakhan III Int. Shipyard, Lotos Shipyard (Astrakhan region), as well as CDB Corall in Ukraine and Friede & Goldman in the U.S.
