Volstad orders seismic research vessel

Volstad Maritime AS in Aalesund, Norway, has ordered another seismic research vessel based on ST-design. The new vessel is a ST-327L CD with a length of 108 m and a beam of 24 m. This is the third seismic research vessel Skipsteknisk has designed for Volstad Maritime but vessel number 7 in a row of seismic vessels, diving support vessels and specialized offshore vessels.

The vessel is to be named ‘Geo Chukchi’ and will be the fourth vessel of this design for Fugro Geoteam. Bergen Group will build this vessel at their yard at Fosen.

The newbuilding is designed to tow 16 cables from a 28 m wide cable deck. Propulsion system is diesel-electric with twin propellers and 4 diesel generators. Accommodation is arranged for 72 persons, all in single cabins.
