VPS, a global marine fuel and oil testing advisory company, has opened a new Oil Condition Monitoring (OCM) Laboratory in Singapore.

The new Singapore facility, the third VPS OCM laboratory, will further support the rapid expansion of business line, replicating the OCM testing capabilities, carried out in both Rotterdam and Houston laboratories.

VPS opened its first dedicated OCM facility in Rotterdam in 2017, followed by the commissioning of its second OCM laboratory in Houston two years ago.

The VPS OCM service is used as part of vessel preventative maintenance programmes, to prolong the lifetime of engines and onboard equipment, minimise breakdowns and increase routine maintenance intervals. Improving the overall efficiency and health of vessels, OCM is a key factor in asset protection, crew safety and environmental protection.

Captain Rahul Choudhuri, MD AMEA of VPS said, “With this growing global OCM laboratory footprint and our team of MLA (Machine Lubricant Analyst) qualified Technical Advisors stationed across the world, VPS will continue to provide industry leading analysis and turnaround times to our customers. Combining our oil condition monitoring service, to assess lubricating oil quality and performance, with our fuel quality testing service, provides our customers with a complete engine performance evaluation.”
