VT Halter wins Lockheed Martin tug contract

VT Halter Marine based in Pascagoula, USA, has signed a contract with Lockheed Martin to design and build two harbour tugs. The 30 metre Voith Tractor tugs will be built at VT Halter Marine?s Jackson County shipyards in Pascagoula and Moss Point with completion scheduled for the last part of 2005. The two tugs, valued at approximately $18 million, will have a propulsion system that combines propulsion and steering into a single unit, providing 360 degrees of manoeuvrability.
