Wärtsilä Automation Norway, a member of the Wärtsilä group and Emerson Process Management have decided to form a total electrical and instrumentation system alliance for FPSO vessels. This alliance will deliver high-performance power plant and process automation systems for FPSO market incorporating leading technologies from both companies.

Dedicated engineering teams of the companies will develop turn-key solutions by collaborating from front-end engineering and design (FEED) through to FPSO commissioning and operation. The delivered solutions can include diesel and dual-fuel engines, generators, power distribution systems, electrical drives, thrusters, motor control centers, and safety and automation systems including metering, valves and instrumentation of the complete vessel.

Wärtsilä Automation Norway AS was formed in March 2006 after the acquisition by Wärtsilä Corporation of the Norwegian company Aker Kv?rner Power and Automation Systems AS. Emerson Process Management is a leading supplier of digital automation systems.

The first collaborative project of the alliance is for BW Offshore FPSO “BW Enterprise” and involves power distribution with high- and medium voltage motor control centres, safety and automation systems including digital process automation, metering stations, instruments and valves.
