Wärtsilä gets more EnviroEngine orders

Importer

Wärtsilä has sold its first EnviroEngines that combine common-rail fuel injection with electronically-controlled direct water injection. P&O Princess Cruises has elected to install 12 EnviroEngines on four of its cruise ships under construction in Japan and France. Wärtsilä says the combination of the two technologies will allow the cruise ships to operate with optimum combustion, and thus no visible smoke, across the load range and achieve low NOx emissions of 6 g/kWh. All 12 engines ? four 16V46, four 9L46 and four 8L46 ? are being built in Finland. The first eight have completed factory acceptance tests for the owner and the ships? builders, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Chantiers de L?Atlantique.
