Wärtsilä lands Yantai order
Wärtsilä has been awarded a contract by China’s Yantai Raffles Shipyard to supply the main engines, thrusters and associated ancillary equipment for its new offshore semi-submersible platform ?ORS Pioneer?.
Wärtsilä is to deliver six 32 series diesel engines and motor-driven steerable thrusters together with various ancillary equipment. The main engines have a combined power of 29 MW.
The new offshore platform has been ordered by the Norwegian company Offshore Rig Services AS and has been designed by Global Maritime AS in Norway. It is a multipurpose, mobile platform suitable for various offshore operations including drilling and well intervention. It is due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2008.
Wärtsilä, together with Siemens AS and Kongsberg Maritime AS, formed a consortium that is the main contractor for the platform?s power plant, electrical, propulsion, dynamic positioning and automation systems. The total value of the consortium contract is approximately 30 million euros, of which Wärtsilä“s share is about 50%.
