Wärtsilä retrofits advanced reliquefaction systems

The order comprises Wärtsilä’s Compact Reliq Double units, which are based on the reversed Brayton cycle technology which reliquefies boil-off gas, returning it to the cargo tanks, reducing emissions.

The system is also fitted with applications to minimise maintenance and operational costs.

Excelerate Energy says this retrofit will improve the environmental footprint of its FSRU operations.

The order is expected to be booked by Wärtsilä in Q4 2024 with delivery scheduled to begin in early 2026.
