Waste system for Brazilian tankers

Evac says its systems have been selected for the series of 10 Suezmax tankers of 160,0000dwt, of which this is the first delivery, and for a series of five 110,000dwt Aframax tankers, also being built by Atlântico Sul Shipyard, which claims to be the largest and most modern shipyard in Brazil.

All wastewater on João Cândido is handled and cleaned by Evac’s water treatment technology, which the company says is capable of handling all black (sewage) and grey waters (from galleys, sinks, showers) onboard, meets IMO environmental requirements, and operates automatically with low maintenance.

On the Suezmax tankers, Evac’s wastewater system includes:

• Vacuum collection system with ejectors, including low-noise type 910 WCs, claimed to use 80% less water than traditional toilets. The system was built by EAS and Evac in cooperation, with the yard supplying the holding tanks used by Evac’s vacuum collection units.
• MBR 24C biological membrane-based wastewater treatment plant, based on flat sheet micro-filtration membranes.
