ICAN is the latest in a line of marine equipment manufacturers to implement C-MAP cartography in their systems. Co-operation with equipment manufacturers is an essential part of C-MAP?s strategy and so far it has agreements with over 90 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) all over the globe to display C-MAP charts in their systems.

ICAN designs and implements sophisticated navigation and communications software including Electronic Chart Systems designed on the IMO specification for ECDIS. ICAN supports CM-93 Edition 3.0 data in it?s Aldebaran and Regulus Electronic Charting System (ECS) products.

Some of the key features of CM-93 implemented in ICAN’s Electronic Charting System include:

– Configurable safety / deep / shallow contours

– Fully configurable display/ability to save and load multiple display configurations

– Depth units in feet / meters / fathoms

– Display in CM-93 or S-52 colours

– Fully automated live internet update

– Manual update

– Update viewer

– Chart query feature

– Seamless world coverage

– Guard zone interaction with contours

– Tide prediction for 4000+ ports

The added advantage of C-MAP charts is that they may be updated by an automatic procedure based on electronic Notices to Mariners sent to the user via e-mail, Internet HTTP, Inmarsat, GSM mobile phone, etc.

Neil Chaulk, president of ICAN, claims that the incorporation of CM-93/3 had resulted in an increase in enquiries for their systems and that he wishes they had done this a long time ago.
