Zamacona wins ropax ship

Against intense competition from Norwegian yards, Astilleros Zamacona in Spain has won an order to build a small ropax ferry for the Norwegian company Bergen Nordhordland Rutelag.

Better known for building fishing vessels, tugs and some smaller passenger vessels, the Zamacona yard won the order on price, offering to build the 63.55m vessel at a price that was 10 per cent less than the nearest offer from a Norwegian yard.
