The shipowner and shipyard’s names remain undisclosed at present, however, GTT confirmed each LNG tank will have a capacity of 174,000m3 and be equipped with GTT’s membrane containment system Mark III Flex.

GTT said the Mark III Flex insulation system has the ability to reduce the daily guaranteed Boil-Off gas rate to 0.085% of tank volume. It has already been used to equip 48 vessels in service.

The LNG tanks are due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2020.

Last month, GTT and Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) unveiled a 30,000m3 gas carrier design that does not require ballast water.

The B-FREE design by uses dual membrane tanks in order to improve space utilisation and boost stability.
