The VGC provides increased reliquefaction plant capacity and the ability to carry cargoes with high incondensable or volatile content, which conventional reliquefaction systems could not handle, said the specialist technology provider for the marine liquefied gas market.

Neale Campbell, Babcock LGE systems director, said: “Technology drives Babcock LGE’s success and promotes our innovative capability.”

Babcock’s VGC is designed to offer increased efficiency at lower capital and operating cost compared to conventional options.

The contract follows Babcock LGE’s recent ecoSMRT LNG reliquefaction technology award for four newly ordered LNG carriers being built in South Korea.

Mr Campbell added: “The recent Vent Gas Cooler and ecoSMRT contract awards demonstrate our ongoing, proven experience and are testament to the hard work and dedication of our international team.”
