Cameron LNG’s Train 2 begins operations
Train 2, which started producing LNG in December, includes a projected export capacity of 4m tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG.
“Reaching commercial operations on Train 2 is another significant milestone for Cameron LNG, its employees and partners,” said Farhad Ahrabi, CEO of Cameron LNG. “I would like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment, not only for their accomplishments on Train 2, but also for getting Train 3 close to completion.”
Cameron LNG completed all major construction activities for Train 2 last year and began receiving gas flow for testing in November as it reached the final stage of the commissioning process. In December, Train 2 began producing LNG and shipping commissioning cargos as part of the process to support stabilising production and performance testing.
Train 1 began commercial operations in August 2019.
MOL-managed newbuilds Marvel Pelican and Marvel Eagle will primarily transport shale gas-derived LNG procured from the Cameron project in Louisiana to the world market, while also undertaking liftings from other sources.
Cameron LNG is jointly owned by affiliates of Sempra LNG, Total, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Japan LNG Investment, LLC, a company jointly owned by Mitsubishi Corporation and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK).
