The project scope encompasses the design, supply and delivery of a high-pressure LNG fuel gas supply system (FGSS) to 2,400 teu container feeder Horizon Reliance. Høglund has been commissioned to supply and deliver a control system and a monitoring system as part of an overall energy turnkey solution.

The project is particularly noteworthy as owner Sunrise Reliance LLC has chosen to completely retrofit and refurbish the ship, rather than demolish the 274m-long, 30m beam ship built in 1979.

The dual-fuel conversion and automation project will extend the operational life of Horizon Reliance into the 2020s.

The dual-fuel conversion and automation project will extend the operational life of Horizon Reliance into the 2020s.

The project, which is being undertaken in partnership with COSCO Shipyard Group, also includes the installation of digital solutions for data collection, as well as the full automation of all the new systems on board the ship.

Høglund claims that the retrofit will improve the access to and quality of operational data for owners and crew, and better control over the systems. Following the systems integration, maintenance and future upgrades will become simpler, reducing total lifecycle costs.

The new digital solutions will allow the owner to access detailed performance and operational data from all the systems on board the vessel and will facilitate informed decision making with regards to operations optimisation.
