With varying sizes capable of cleaning between 200 and 5,000 litres of bilgewater, the GEA separators are said to have an efficiency level of 96% and require 30% less space. Equipped with an additional filter, the separator is said to guarantee a residual oil content of less than 5 ppm in the treated bilgewater, contributing significantly to the protection of the oceans.

Modular in design to ensure easy installation and intended for unattended operation, the service interval has been doubled to 16,000 hours and the time required for maintenance reduced by 94%.

The main components comprise feed pump, automatic filter, preheater, self-cleaning centrifugal separator, oil monitor and control panel. They are installed on two modules (feed pump/preheater unit and separator) which can be supplied as a complete unit or separately.

GEA also offers the SafetyMaster system which prevents unintentional overboard pumping of bilgewater with excessive values by permanently monitoring complete separation with data recorded and held for 18 months.

With 125 years of experience in separation technology, GEA first developed its self-cleaning, centrifugal design for treating bilgewater in 1996. Originally capable of treating 5,000 litres per hour, the company soon offered varying sizes of BilgeMaster with a capacity of up to 7,000 litres per hour.
