Corsica Linea awards tender for LNG supply

The award will see an expansion of Titan LNG’s services in the Mediterranean region. The company’s ceo, Niels den Nijs, said that this partnership would also enhance the availability of LNG, bioLNG and in the longer run, synthetic LNG produced from green electricity in the region.

Titan will start Truck-to-Ship operations for a period of time until the arrival of Krios, a 4,500 cbm LNG bunker vessel. The vessel is expected to be able to supply the wider Mediterranean region with LNG and bioLNG as a marine fuel.

Corsica Linea’s new LNG-fuelled ferry, A Galeotta, which is currently under construction at the Visentini shipyard in Italy, is set to begin sea trials in May 2022. The 206m ferry will have capacity for about 900 passengers and will offer 2,560 lane metres on the trailer decks plus extra deck space for 150 cars, and will have a nominated speed of 23 knots. The vessel is expected to increase the proportion of lower and zero carbon variations of LNG, such as bioLNG and hydrogen-derived LNG, with no changes required to the infrastructure.
