First dual-fuel VLCC enters TotalEnergies’ fleet
The 300,000 dwt dual-fuelled VLCC was delivered to Singapore-based AET at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje shipyard on 24 February 2022.
The vessel will be the first dual-fuel VLCC in TotalEnergies’ timechartered fleet. She will be joined by a second vessel in the series, which is expected to be delivered in Q2 2022.
TotalEnergies noted that it was planning to add a further four dual-fuel newbuild tankers to its fleet as part of a broader program.
Attending the naming ceremony at the shipyard, Luc Gillet, Senior Vice President, Shipping at TotalEnergies, said: “We are pleased to welcome the Eagle Valence to TotalEnergies’ timechartered fleet. This first LNG-powered vessel is a key component of our strategy to reduce the emissions generated during the transportation of our product to our customers. We look forward to receiving five additional LNG-powered ships between 2022 and 2023. LNG as a marine fuel remains the best immediately available solution for reducing our shipping carbon footprint.”
The Eagle Valence will leverage the LNG bunkering network of TotalEnergies Marine Fuels, TotalEnergies’ dedicated business unit in charge of worldwide bunkering activities, for their supply of LNG marine fuel.
