Mitsui E&S begins TCT production

This marks the first time the TCT model has been built under licence in Japan, strengthening the longstanding collaboration between the two companies.

“Since entering into a licensing agreement with Everllence in 1981, we have manufactured and sold over 4,000 Mitsui-Everllence turbochargers over the past 40 years,” said Ichiro Tanaka, director of Mitsui E&S.

“We deeply appreciate the strong partnership between the two companies and the dedicated efforts of everyone involved.”

The TCT turbocharger, launched by Everllence in 2019, is the successor to the widely used TCA series and is designed for two-stroke marine engines. Mitsui E&S, one of the world’s largest two-stroke engine manufacturers, has been a licensee of Everllence turbocharger technology since 1981.

“Many Japanese customers prefer products that are manufactured domestically,” said Dr Daniel Struckmeier, managing director of Everllence Japan.

“Local production helps build trust, ensures faster delivery and aligns with customer expectations. We are confident that this development will further enhance the appeal of Mitsui E&S within the two-stroke engine segment.”

Production will initially focus on the TCT40, with plans to expand to other models in the TCT range. The turbochargers will be installed on Mitsui-manufactured Everllence engines.
