WinGD secures major VLCC order

Each vessel will be equipped with a WinGD 6X82-2.0 low-speed engine, alongside scrubber and high-pressure selective catalytic reduction systems to meet current International Maritime Organization emissions requirements.

The order reflects continued investment in modern tanker tonnage as shipowners seek to renew ageing fleets with vessels capable of delivering improved fuel economy, reliability and environmental performance. Strong ordering activity in the VLCC market has highlighted confidence in the long-term outlook for crude transportation and the importance of efficient propulsion technology.

Beyond engine supply, WinGD will provide lifecycle support through its global service network, including 24-hour operational assistance, WiDE remote monitoring and diagnostics, helping operators maximise performance throughout the vessels’ working lives.
