Generators for LNG PSVs
The generators use a proprietary high capacity membrane to minimise electrical power consumption and are an alternative for a wide variety of applications. The company says that they provide significant operational savings over liquid nitrogen tanks.
They work by removing oxygen, water vapour and carbon dioxide from compressed air to produce oxygen and both purity and flow rate can be adjusted.
The order for the Air Products NC 1.1 series cabinet models consists of a complete N2 generator, a control panel and a feed air pre-treatment with a PLC control.
They should allow the operator Harvey Gulf International to benefit from reduced emissions and a lower operational cost.
Maintenance is also apparently kept at a minimum because the model has a robust design with carefully selected materials, meeting the stringent requirements for PSVs.
Air Products is a specialist in the design of high performance nitrogen systems used in transportation applications such as LNG and chemical tankers.
The new PSV’s are currently under construction at Trinity Offshore Shipyard in Gulfport.
